Fatal Spring

This feral rabbit died from eating poisoned black berries. A few springs ago I found him at the far edge of a field where a small band of domestic rabbits roam unattended. He had so many berries in his belly when I processed him, it made me incredibly sad. i found no marks of trauma or an attack on his remains so I chalked it up to the berries. I hope the sweetness was a consolation in his last moments. He had wandered to the furthest point away from the warren under a snarled blackberry hedge. I have made his pelt a permanent fixture in my booth, the silvery grey one I nestle my incense plates on top of.
